Webinar Recording: Rheology Tools: Identifying, Understanding, and Handling Data Artifacts

Viscosity is a calculated property and not directly measured. When the assumptions used to perform the viscosity calculation are violated, the value provided by the instrument is flawed. These errors are commonly referred to as artifacts. In our "Rheology Tools: Data Artifacts" webinar Principal Scientist, Dr. Stacey Elliott discusses the artifacts that may be observed in rectangular slit flows, including:

  • Shear induced heating
  • Wall slip
  • Yielding
  • Turbulence
  • Other inhomogeneities

She shares what to look out for and how to handle it if it does occur.

Dr. Stacey Elliott obtained her extensive experience and rheological knowledge through her education at Carnegie Mellon University and Princeton as well as her experience at both Alcon and DuPont.
