No Cleaning in Between Samples

Introducing the microVISC PRO Microfluidic Viscometer

Buffer-after-buffer testing with microVISC PRO

The microVISC PRO is the next-generation portable and easy-to-use viscometer with built-in VROC technology. With this unit, you can test many samples (i.e., buffers) with no cleaning required in between, provided all samples are compatible.

We measured the viscosity of two low-viscosity buffers (1X PBS, and 1% Tween 20) within 10 minutes by using the workflow shown below. Cleaning was not required between samples.

Buffer Viscosity Flow

As shown below, the average viscosity of 1X PBS and 1% Tween 20 (each with 7 repeats or segments) was 0.885 cP and 0.924 cP, respectively. The repeatability, expressed as %RSD, was 0.17 for 1X PBS and 0.12 for 1% Tween 20. Measurements were performed using an A05 chip at a fixed flow rate of 450 mg/mL and a temperature of 25 °C. Although the viscosity difference between the two samples is small, the microVISC PRO was able to reliably detect this variation with high precision and repeatability, demonstrating the instrument’s high resolution. To ensure consistent accuracy of the VROC chip, MGVS20 can be measured at both the beginning and end of the workflow.
