Viscosity of PAM-based Drift Control Adjuvants for Pesticides under Spray-Relevant Shear and Extensional Rates with m-VROC II
Application Note
PAM-based DCAs:
This application note shows how the m-VROC II with an E05 chip in single-pass mode measures the viscosity of PAM-based DCA solutions (0 – 1000 ppm in tap water) at shear rates of roughly 100,000 to 800,000 s⁻¹, which spans the nozzle wall shear rate range, while the channel entrance also exposes the sample to extensional rates of order 10⁴ to 10⁵ s⁻¹.
We also share how single-pass mode lets samples run back-to-back without cleaning, and how retrieval mode can probe polymer “degradation.”
Viscosity at Spray-Relevant Shear and Extensional Rates
Polymeric drift control adjuvants (DCAs) reduce spray drift, but their viscosity at nozzle-relevant shear and extensional rates is difficult to measure with conventional instruments.
