The Effect of Salt Concentration on Viscosity of Battery Electrolytes at Elevated Temperature

VROC® initium offers automated viscosity testing with unparalleled capabilities. In this note, we present a new feature that opens the door to unlimited measurements of viscosity from very small samples.

The 50-points dataset in Figure 1 was collected with only 95 µL of MGVS100 water based certified viscosity standard (Paragon Scientific). Thanks to the VROC® initium sample retrieval function, the sample can be retrieved back into the testing syringe and re-tested. This feature allows for virtually unlimited measurements out of a very small initial sample volume. Note that the same dataset would have required ~900µL without sample retrieval, which is roughly 10 times more sample volume consumption. Sample viscosity was found to be 10.15±0.015 cP, corresponding to ~0.15% repeatability, which is superior to any other automated viscosity measurement system.
