Fast Screening of Whole Blood Viscosity with microVISC PRO
Application Note
Application Note
Whole Blood Viscosity
Whole blood viscosity is an important hemorheological parameter because it reflects the resistance of blood to flow through the circulatory system, particularly in small vessels.
Unlike plasma viscosity alone, whole blood viscosity captures the combined effects of:
- Hematocrit (red blood cell concentration)
- Red blood cell deformability
- Red blood cell aggregation
- Plasma protein composition
Testing whole blood with traditional methods can be difficult and many more modern viscometers and rheometers have difficult cleaning processes.
This application note details the full process of testing and cleaning whole blood samples with RheoSense's walk-up ready microVISC PRO viscometer.
