Characterizing the Viscosity of Hyaluronic Acid Solutions with Different Molecular Weights

Application Note Download

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a biodegradable polymer with a wide range of molecular weights from 1000 Da to 10,000,000 Da and a variety of applications in the biomedical field such as tissue engineering, cancer treatment, wound healing, and cosmetics.

The rheological properties of HA solution strongly depend on their molecular weight. Therefore, for a successful design and development of HA for the above-mentioned applications, it is crucial to understand the effect of molecular weight on viscosity.

Our goal is to demonstrate how we use the RheoSense m-VROC II to measure the shear viscosity of HA solutions at different molecular weights and over a broad range of shear rates.
