June 30, 2021 Wednesday - 11:00 am PST Webinar - Extensional Viscosity with e-VROC: Data Analysis & Interpretation


In May 2021 we presented the theory behind the e-VROC® extensional viscometer, as well as practical guidance to perform experiments.

Please join us on June 30th for a follow up discussion on data analysis and interpretation. The following topics will be covered: 

  • Recalling that e-VROC® is a mixed flow environment, we will illustrate how to calculate steady shear viscosity from the data in addition to the extensional.
  • Demonstrate how the steady shear viscosity can be used to confirm chip performance.
  • Correct the pressure drop across the hyperbolic contraction to emphasize the extensional component of the flow field.
  • Utilize dimensionless groups such as the Reynolds number to facilitate data interpretation.

This webinar will be hosted by our in-house rheology experts,  Dr. Stacey Elliott and Dr. Zachary Imam.

Dr. Elliott obtained her extensive experience and rheological knowledge through her education at Carnegie Mellon University and Princeton as well as her experience at both Alcon and DuPont. 

Dr. Imam obtained his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and spent a year post-doctoral continuing development on a bioscience project funded by the Department of Energy’s Basic Energy Science program studying the biophysical properties and functions of microtubules.
