2021 Fall Viscosity Summit

Let's revolutionize material characterization together!

The Power of Viscosity

Back by popular demand our second Viscosity Summit brought together hundreds of attendees from across the globe to hear from a panel of rheology experts.

Our Fall Viscosity Summit brought together a panel of speakers from both industry and academia to facilitate the discussion of rheology fundamentals with a focus on viscosity applications.

Speakers and Agenda

Predicting Injection Force for High Concentration Monoclonal Antibody Formulations Using High Shear Rheology Measurements
Wuthrich_profile-picPhilip Wuthrich, Senior Research Scientist, ReForm Biologics
Here we compare high shear rheology data with syringe glide force measurements for concentrated monoclonal antibody formulations with and without viscosity modifying excipients. Philip Wuthrich is a Senior Research Scientist at ReForm Biologics in Woburn, MA, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. He has eleven years of experience in technology development, with the last seven years at ReForm Biologics developing new formulation strategies for biotherapeutics.

Capillary Flow and Cellulose Nanomaterials: How Processing Conditions can Impact Your Samples.
Bradley SutliffBradley P. Sutliff, Ph.D. Candidate, Virginia Tech
Biomaterials provide a promising alternative to traditional synthetic polymers, however little is known about how many of these materials will tolerate traditional manufacturing techniques. The high temperatures and stresses inherent to processes such as injection molding and 3D printing can have significant impacts on the materials they are applied to. This talk will provide an insight into unique methods of using capillary rheometers, as well as analytical techniques to characterize samples after they have been processed.

Tools of the Trade: Selecting the Best Viscometer for Your Application
Stacey webinar Stacey Elliott, PhD, Principal Scientist, RheoSense
One size rarely fits all and viscometers are no exception. To make the best decision, it is important to first ask the relevant questions regarding your samples, applications, and measurement goals. The next step is to illustrate how the answers can guide you in choosing the most appropriate instrument(s). Although the main focus will be on our VROC® technology, we will discuss when microfluidics may not be the best option and what alternatives exist.
